A shocking historical tape has appeared. This work is QUEEN's audience album containing "November 23, 1973 Glasgow Performance". He produced "QUEEN II" in August, and two months later he started his UK tour as the undercard of Mott the Hoople. It is a record of the very early QUEEN, which is the 11th performance.
This recording was not even known to exist until now, and suddenly appeared on the net in recent years. After all, speaking of "1973", only 4 or 5 were known until now. Although the band is full of researchers and collectors all over the world, a sound source that could not be found in more than 40 years of research popped out, but the shock is immeasurable.
This work was recorded by a female taper, who is actually a fan of Mott the Hoople. At that time, he went to the venue for Houple, but what he saw there was an enthusiastic audience seeking a new band called QUEEN. She turned her tape, wondering, "Who the hell is that?" Perhaps I was pressing it even if I paused because I was concerned about the remaining amount of tape, the beginning of "Father To Son" and "Ogre Battle" is missing, and "Son And Daughter" that should have been played on the day is not recorded. The sound is a little cracked and should be called a "historical record" rather than a "musical piece". When you write this, you may think of a type such as "searching for music in noise", but that is not the case. Almost all you can hear from this work is the music of the band. Even if there is a feeling of cracking during recording, there is no tape twist, running unevenness, or deterioration over time, and the band is very close. It's a sound that can't be praised when you listen to it audio-wise, but it's not something that forces patience, and it conveys not only the songs and performances, but also the passion that's put into it.
What was recorded in such a precious and precious master was QUEEN, which was hot and burning. Actually, this day is the last day of the 9th consecutive performance, but Freddie's throat, who was only 27 years old at that time, is tireless. I will pull the show with intense vocalization. The precious "Hangman" is also wonderful, but the tension rises steadily as you go to the second half, and "Liar" makes you sing in a fantasy manner.
The enthusiasm of the audience, which was fueled by the enthusiasm, was also amazing. Even though the production is over, "QUEEN II" will be released in March 1974, so the audience does not know the song at all. Nevertheless, there was a tremendous response from "Father To Son" and "Ogre Battle". Often there is a big cheer on radio broadcasts, but the same amount of live cheers boil up. After this, "QUEEN II" became a big hit in the 5th place in the UK, but the signs are already swirling. With all this heat in front of me, it's no wonder that Taper, who was a fan of Mott the Hoople, wants to press the record button ...
