In the latter half of the 1980s, when the bubble culminated, Western music concerts began to become customary for big names to come to Japan, and in 1988, a unique event using the Tokyo Dome, which had just opened, was held in July. This is an event where artists gather together to promote the best compilation album of Western music edited by a record company. The event was named "DRY GIGS" because its sponsor was a liquor maker, and in a sense, it was an epoch-making event that could be called the forerunner of the current festival.

Because it was related to the best compilation album, big artists belonging to the same record company appeared at once, and the big three were Art Garfunkel, Boz Scaggs, and Billy Joel. Naturally, this event was a hot topic and was reported in real time, but what I heard leaked was that Art and Boz were in the order of appearance. Behind the scenes, it was Billy Joel who came to Japan when the activity was off for this event and also acted as a bird. Because of such a one-shot performance, the sound source did not appear on the market, and it seems that this appearance was wrapped in a little veil even in Billy's performance in Japan.

This work was released with an original audience recording of such a valuable performance in Japan. While recording at the freshly made Tokyo Dome, it captures the stage in a surprisingly clear manner. Of course, since it is the Tokyo Dome in 1988, I cannot escape from the curse of Echo, but I wonder if it is a little miracle that the sound image is recorded without blurring. Especially Billy's singing voice can be heard well. Since it is a cassette recording, you can hear hiss, but you are still amazed at the high quality recording condition.
