Introducing the finest Japanese performance album that summarizes the original CHICAGO. They have toured Japan 14 times until now, but it was until 1973 that the original 7 people were all together. This work is an audience recording of the first day of the third performance in Japan, "April 6, 1973: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall". It is a live album using the original master that first appeared, which was handed over directly from the recorder himself.
This year was also the climax of recording the most performances in the history of CHICAGO's visit to Japan. First, let's look back on the schedule.
・ April 6: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall [this work]
・ April 7: Hokkaido Welfare Pension Hall
・ April 9: Nippon Budokan
・ April 10: Nippon Budokan
・ April 12: Hiroshima Postal Savings Hall
・ April 13: Fukuoka City Kyuden Memorial Gymnasium
・ April 16: Kyoto Kaikan
・ April 17: Aichi Prefectural Gymnasium

・ April 19: Osaka Kosei Nenkin Kaikan
・ April 20: Osaka Kosei Nenkin Kaikan
As mentioned above, the 1973 tour has 11 performances in total. Their performances in Japan were a tour that traversed the archipelago with a number of performances that were out of the ordinary, while at most 7 performances were standard. This work was recorded by Taper, who recorded the legendary Pink Floyd performance in Sapporo. It is the CHICAGO version of that historical recording, which is also famous for "COLD FRONT" and the recently released "SAPPORO 1972: DIRECT REEL MASTER", and was recorded on the same open reel. Moreover, this time it is the original master that first appeared. The long version "A Hit By Varese / Free", which was cut in its entirety on that day, is also recorded, making it the highest, longest, and best live album ever.
