DEEP PURPLE from 1992 to 1993 was a turbulent era rarely seen in the history of the band. Joe Lynn Turner's withdrawal and Ian Gillan's return are decided amid the dissonance between the members and the confusion of the record company's speculation. Ritchie gradually lost his enthusiasm for DEEP PURPLE as his new studio album, which had been in the process of being produced since he was with Joe, changed direction with the work of Roger Glover and Gillan.

The unstable band state broke down during the European tour with the release of "THE BATTLE RAGES ON". At the beginning of the tour (until the live in Germany), the tension inside the band had a positive effect, but by the time the UK tour started, Ritchie decided to leave the band on November 17th.
